1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and CodesWhat, operator of Skintel (“Skintel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to the Skintel iOS application, skintel.app, and related services (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Specific data purposes that require consent are presented separately; accepting these Terms does not authorize a future image-analysis or research program.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. You agree to provide accurate account information, protect your credentials, promptly report suspected unauthorized access, and not transfer or share your account.
Skintel creates a guest account when you start tracking. The guest credential lives on your device and may be lost if you delete or reinstall the app or move to a new device. Connect Apple or Google if you want to recover the same progress elsewhere. You may delete the guest account and its data in the app while you still have access to it.
Camera access is not required by the tracking beta. Apple Health access is optional. If you choose current-location weather, Skintel requests When In Use location permission; you can instead use a city/state or ZIP. You can change these optional permissions in the app or iOS Settings.
3. What Skintel does
Skintel helps you record products and routines, mark what you used, save subjective skin check-ins and optional context, and review your own factual history. Records are based on what you enter and may be incomplete or unavailable.
The first external TestFlight does not offer face analysis, product-photo recognition, generated guidance, community claims, personal causal conclusions, product stop/buy instructions, or paid features. Those capabilities require a separate release and review before they may appear.
4. Skintel is not medical care
Skintel does not provide diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, product-safety conclusions, or new-product recommendations. A check-in, history view, or association is not a clinical measurement and does not prove that a product or behavior caused a change. Skintel does not establish a clinician-patient relationship and is not an emergency service.
- Do not rely on Skintel for an emergency or urgent health concern.
- Do not delay or disregard professional medical advice because of the Service.
- Ask a qualified clinician about persistent, severe, painful, rapidly changing, or otherwise concerning symptoms.
- Product-catalog facts may be partial, outdated, or incorrect. A missing warning is not proof that a product is safe for you.
- Do not use Skintel to start or stop a prescription, clinician-directed product, or medically consequential routine.
5. Your content and permissions
“Your Content” includes profile answers, check-ins, private notes, product lists, routine use, and feedback you submit. You retain the rights you have in Your Content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, process, transmit, and display it only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and support the tracking Service under the Privacy Policy and your current choices.
Using the tracking beta does not grant raw-selfie training, evaluation, deidentified face-metric contribution, or another future research permission. A materially different collection or use requires updated notice and any separate choice required by law.
You represent that you have the rights needed for anything you submit. Do not submit unlawful, abusive, infringing, malicious, or deceptive content or another person’s private health information without authorization.
6. Free beta service
The current TestFlight is free and does not offer an in-app purchase or subscription. Free features and limits may change with reasonable notice. Before a paid service launches, we will disclose its price, billing period, included features, renewal and cancellation terms, and applicable refund rules before purchase and update these Terms as required.
7. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the Service unlawfully, fraudulently, or to harm another person.
- Probe another account or bypass security, access, or usage controls.
- Scrape, overload, disrupt, or automate abusive traffic against the Service.
- Reverse engineer, copy, resell, or sublicense protected parts of the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Use Skintel to make clinical, employment, insurance, or safety decisions about someone.
- Use Service output to make deceptive health, efficacy, or safety claims.
- Introduce malware or interfere with another user’s access or privacy.
8. Ownership, feedback, and third parties
The Service—including its software, design, branding, text, databases, and non-user content—is owned by CodesWhat or its licensors and protected by applicable law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it for its intended purpose.
If you send ideas or feedback, you allow us to use them without restriction or payment. Personal data included in feedback remains governed by the Privacy Policy.
Skintel relies on third-party platforms for sign-in, cloud infrastructure, optional HealthKit and weather context, product catalog data, and constrained product analytics. Their separate terms may apply to your direct relationship with them. We remain responsible for our own data-processing obligations.
9. Changes, availability, and termination
We may change, suspend, or discontinue a feature for security, legal, provider, or operational reasons. Where reasonably practical, we will provide notice if a material change adversely affects access. You may stop using Skintel and delete your account at any time. We may restrict or terminate access for a material breach, misuse, or serious risk, subject to rights that cannot be waived.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be accurate, available, secure, or error-free. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CodesWhat and its affiliates, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages or loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Skintel during the 12 months before the event or US $100. These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, intentional misconduct, or certain personal injury.
These Terms are governed by applicable law without limiting mandatory consumer protections where you live. Before a formal dispute, you and Skintel agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve it by contacting the other party. This does not prevent urgent injunctive relief or a legally available small-claims process.
11. Updates and contact
